More than 300 responses came from schools, businesses, researchers, young people and under-represented communities across the United Kingdom.

The submissions raised recurring concerns about artificial intelligence, health systems and science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills.

Some ideas have already influenced committee work on online harms and health innovation. Researcher pitches also helped lead to an inquiry into low-energy computing.

Onwurah said the exercise was intended to widen participation in deciding which scientific and technological issues Parliament examines.

The report is not a commitment to launch an inquiry into every suggestion. The committee will continue drawing on the submissions as it selects future scrutiny priorities.
