Chris Webb has called for Blackpool to be prioritised in mental-health support, arguing that investment should reflect the scale of local need.

The Labour MP for Blackpool South set out his position in a statement on 9 October responding to the Government’s announcement of a review led by Professor Peter Fonagy.
Webb said people experiencing distress should receive support before their difficulties become a crisis, including when they do not have a formal diagnosis.
He called for Blackpool schools to be at the front of the queue for help, placing early support for children and young people at the centre of his response.
Webb also argued that local charities should have a proper role in the forthcoming mental-health strategy, highlighting Counselling in the Community’s work.
His intervention seeks a stronger local response to the review and wider policy work. It does not announce a new funding award for Blackpool.
