Calvin Bailey has backed calls for international passenger trains to serve Stratford International, supporting a proposal advanced by London Mayor Sadiq Khan on 8 October.

The Labour MP said he had been pressing the issue for two years, including work with operators and public bodies on expansion of the Temple Mills depot.
Khan said he had been working with the government on proposals for international services from Stratford, arguing that rail could provide more sustainable travel connections.
Bailey’s intervention links that proposal to railway infrastructure in east London and the capacity needed to support additional operators.
The statements did not announce an approved passenger service, an operator or a timetable. Depot development and the arrangements needed for international departures remain distinct from a confirmed service launch.
Bailey represents Leyton and Wanstead, close to the east London railway infrastructure at the centre of the proposal. His statement concerned constituency transport interests rather than his separate defence ministerial responsibilities.
