Craig set out the commitment at Beyond the Music's Creative Industries AI Summit on 9 October, alongside plans to support practical AI literacy for music professionals.

The proposals also include working with partners to monitor the effects of new technologies on employment, income and diversity within the sector.

More than 700 stakeholders have helped shape the Greater Manchester Music Plan. The plan is expected to enter the combined authority's formal approval process in December.

Craig said she wanted to create conditions in which the next generation of artists, venues, businesses and music professionals could succeed. The £2 million commitment is additional to a £4 million Culture Fund investment announced earlier in the month.
