Andy Burnham has called for an immediate energy ceasefire during a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on 10 October.

The Prime Minister reiterated his solidarity with Ukraine after what Downing Street described as a difficult 24 hours for the country.
The two leaders discussed maintaining pressure on Russia. Burnham said the UK would continue strengthening sanctions and taking action to constrain Russia’s war effort, building on designations announced earlier in the week.
They said an energy ceasefire should end Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and attacks on shipping in the Black Sea.
The leaders argued that ending those attacks would release more energy and food supplies into global markets.
Burnham and Zelenskyy also agreed to meet in person in the coming days. The statement did not announce a date or a new sanctions package arising from the call.
