Kate Ravilious Welcomes New Park and Ride Stop to Support NHS Staff and Families in York

City of York Council's Executive Member for Transport, Councillor Kate Ravilious, has welcomed new Tadcaster Road stops on the No. 3 Park and Ride route to serve an NHS facility and a local nursery.

Councillor Kate Ravilious, Executive Member for Transport on City of York Council, has welcomed changes to the No. 3 Park and Ride service that will add new stops on Tadcaster Road to serve an NHS facility and a local nursery.

From 8 November, the service from Askham Bar will add a set-down only stop on Tadcaster Road on its way into the city centre, and a pick-up only stop on the return journey.

The change was agreed after Councillor Ravilious listened to feedback from the NHS and worked with First Bus and council officers to find a solution. It will help staff and families using Little Green Rascals nursery, and staff, visitors and patients at the nearby NHS facility at Nelson's Court, with minimal impact on Park and Ride journey times. It is also expected to ease parking pressure on nearby residential streets.

Ravilious: 'Small changes can provide meaningful options'

"This is positive news and I welcome First's flexibility in introducing these set down and pick up stops where demand shows they will be used. This is an example of how small changes can provide meaningful options for people who want to leave their car on the edge of York, and travel by bus.

"Park and Ride user numbers have increased in recent years from just over 3 million in 2022-23 to almost 4 million in 2025-26, with earlier starts and later finishes for Park and Ride bus services since last year making them a more attractive option for many people travelling into York. This change is a small example of how we can make bus services work for even more people."
