Justice Secretary Alex Norris has set out his continuing work to improve neighbourhood safety, protect public services and support communities across Nottingham North and Kimberley.
In an update to constituents, the Labour and Co-operative MP highlighted concerns raised during recent surgeries in Bulwell, Aspley and Kimberley, including antisocial behaviour, off-road motorcycles and the need for a more visible police presence.
Norris said accessible neighbourhood policing remained an important priority for residents, with people wanting officers who understand their communities and can respond effectively to persistent local problems.
Neighbourhood safety and antisocial behaviour
He has been working with Nottinghamshire Police and local neighbourhood teams to ensure resources are directed towards areas experiencing repeated antisocial behaviour. This includes supporting additional foot patrols in town centres and residential neighbourhoods where residents and businesses have reported intimidation, disorder or other recurring problems.
Norris has also highlighted the nuisance and danger caused by illegally ridden scrambler bikes and quad bikes. Such vehicles can create excessive noise, damage public spaces and place pedestrians and other road users at risk. He is supporting the use of strengthened seizure powers to help police remove vehicles being used illegally from local streets, as Labour representatives have pressed elsewhere.
Residents are being encouraged to continue reporting non-emergency incidents and antisocial behaviour, helping neighbourhood policing teams identify patterns and direct officers towards the places where they are most needed. Norris has stressed that individual reports are important even when an incident may appear minor, because the information can help police build a clearer picture of repeated activity in a particular area.

Alongside community safety, the Nottingham North and Kimberley MP is continuing to champion the local services upon which families depend. He has been engaging with council representatives, health organisations and community groups about protecting frontline provision and ensuring public investment delivers practical improvements.
Norris has said that residents should be able to see the benefits of government and local investment in their everyday lives—from safer streets and well-maintained public spaces to reliable community facilities and accessible services.
His constituency work reflects the Labour government’s wider commitment to restoring neighbourhood policing, preventing crime and rebuilding confidence in public services.
Norris has represented the area in Parliament since 2017 and was appointed Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice by Prime Minister Andy Burnham in July, as reported in Nottingham.
His Cabinet responsibilities include oversight of the justice system and the Ministry of Justice, but he has emphasised that he will continue representing local residents and maintaining a visible presence throughout Nottingham North and Kimberley.
